16/10/24: Men’s Blues 2-1 Falcs (Friendly)
It was a pristine afternoon at Queen’s as the Falcs prepared to unleash Carlball on the Blues. The boys were fully fired up for the game following some typically inspirational words from Boris and settled into the game nicely, content to let the Blues have the majority of the ball in the opening stages. Loftsy and Niklas were keeping things tight at the heart of defence, whilst Alex made a couple of smart saves to keep things level. Mylo and Cohen were also working tirelessly on the wings, helping to limit the oppo to a few half chances. However, the Blues went ahead in clinical fashion midway through the first half after winning the ball back in midfield and exchanging a couple of neat passes, with Asa slotting the ball home after being played in behind. However, the Falcs didn’t give in and immediately began to look for a way back in the game, striking back in the final few minutes before half time. Wakey produced some neat skill to get to the byline and squared the ball to Dom, who made no mistake from a few yards out to draw the Falcs level ahead of the second half. The boys continued to stick to the game plan that had worked so well in the first half, with Ujj, Isaac and Sanch all putting in an immense shift in the centre of the park, and the skipper leading by example at the back. However, the Blues went ahead again 15 minutes into the second half when OJ capitalised on a rebound to put fire home from close range. The Falcs once again went in search of an equaliser and could have levelled things up again when Cohen was played in behind, but he forgot to shoot. Despite some late pressure from the Falcs, the Blues held on to secure a 2-1 win in a hotly-contested clash. Despite the narrow defeat, there were plenty of positive signs ahead of the start of the Falcs’ BUCS campaign 📈
